connectivity, thinking

Everywhere, all the time

iPhone. Blackberry. Pre. Online, connected all the time.

Connected to what? Who is so crucial to the continuation of things that they need to be plugged in all the time? The answer, of course, is that we all are. For an ongoing investment of a few tens of dollars a month, we now all of us have an aura of being plugged into the scene. We’re all top dogs now.

But if we’re all top dog, then... is there a top dog?

Designing for the trail of a product or service is important, too. One must think of the ripples and how to navigate them once they grow into something unexpected. What happens to social networks once they’re overpopulated? What happens when they’re exclusionary?

The costs of starting a club have lowered exponentially. But the value of the individual has risen, too. It’s the person who withholds himself from diving into the popularity pool that we need to keep our eyes on. This is the person who will add value to what we do.
